Alcohol Awareness Week 6th-12th July
The theme of Alcohol Awareness Week is “Alcohol and Me”. It is to encourage reflection on personal alcohol use and it’s impact on health and wellbeing.
This is a national campaign led by the charity Alcohol Change UK. It is to raise awareness of alcohol-related harm, promote open conversations about drinking and support individuals to make informed choices about alcohol (Alcoholchange.org.UK). This campaign wants to engage health organisations, schools, workplaces and community groups across the UK.
The theme “Alcohol and Me” invites people to reflect on how alcohol affects their lives, including physical health, mental wellbeing, relationships, and productivity (alcoholchange.org.uk). The campaign highlights risks such as liver disease, high blood pressure, stroke, cancer, disrupted sleep, low energy, and increased anxiety. It encourages people to think about their drinking habits, cut back or try alcohol free alternatives.
To take part try self reflection and look how much alcohol you drink. You can reduce or cut out completely how much you drink. Support others who maybe suffering from the effects of alcohol. Host educational events to raise awareness.
