Garden Wildlife Week 2nd -8th June
This week aims to raise awareness about garden wildlife. Some animals have adapted to live in suburban areas such as foxes. Other animals include mice, squirrels and rats, among others. In certain religions, some animals are considered to be scared, and in modern times, activists have begun to protest against wildlife exploitation due to concerns for the natural environment.
Some animals , such as house mice, have become entirely dependent on human habitats. Animals that inhabit urban environments have evolved different behaviour as compared to animals that inhabit rural areas.
You can encourage wildlife in your garden by creating wildlife shelters, planting trees and hedges, creating a pond (that is child safe), providing food and water. Plan your plants with wildlife in mind and report any wildlife sightings. Don’t use pesticides.
