Global Beatles Day

Global Beatles Day 25th June

In 1967 on the 25th June the Beatles recorded a message to the world. It was broadcast live as part of the BBC’s Our World, the first international satellite television broadcast of their song “ All You Need Is Love”. (The Beatles). It reached an estimated 400 million people around the globe.

In 2009 a lifelong fan, Faith Cohen, decided that day in 1967 deserved to be commemorated and Global Beatles Day was born.

From tribute concerts in Tokyo, Beatles themed exhibitions in New York City and singalongs in Buenos Aures the day has grown from the love of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

The Beatles will release a colourised version of their BBC Our World performance of “All You Need Is Love” for free on June 25th on YouTube. “ The first time the iconic performance has been made available online, it will celebrate the iconic performance’s anniversary, mark Global Beatles Day, and give fans around the world the chance to relive that spectacular, global moment from 1967 and share their reaction in the live chat.” (The Beatles).
