National Cat Day 29th October

National Cat Day

29th October

If you talk to any cat owner, they will tell you cats make excellent companions. Awareness days such as this urges pet lovers to adopt from a local shelter where unfortunately over 150,000 cats enter each year in the UK.

This is also an opportunity to discuss the value of spaying and neutering to help reduce the abandoned kitten population.

Cats come in all colours and coats with varied personalities. Think carefully about what type of shelter cat you want to adopt, think about your lifestyle, do want an energetic kitten or a more sedate cat.

  • Spend one-on-one time with the cat so you have some bonding meowments and her true personality comes through.
  • Do other members of your fur family need to be considered? If so, be sure to introduce them to be sure their personalities mesh.
  • When you bring your new family member home, have a space ready for him to decompress and adjust to his new abode. Don’t be surprised if he hides at first. This is normal cat behaviour.

Oh, and by the way, Happy Halloween!!
