Good Friday & Easter Sunday

Good Friday & Easter Sunday 18th and 20th April

Good Friday is the Christian anniversary of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It seems odd to suggest that this day be known as Good Friday but various sources suggest that “Good” maybe a corruption of the word “God” as in God’s Friday. Some sources suggest that the word might simply designate a day “observed as holy”.

The most important Good Friday symbol is the crucifix or cross which represents the way in which Jesus died. Christians commemorate the passion, or suffering, and death on the cross of Jesus Christ on this day.

Easter, also called Pasha or Resurrection Sunday is a Christian festival and cultural holiday. It is the time when Jesus Christ was resurrected from the grave.

Easter Sunday is a significant Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, marking it as the most important event in Christianity. It occurs on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the Vernal Equinox, typically falling between March 22 and April 25. This day also concludes the 40-day period of Lent, during which Christians engage in prayer and repentance. Easter Sunday serves as a profound reminder of hope and the transformative power of faith in the Christian faith.

The Easter Egg symbolises new life, resurrection.

Happy Easter!
