London & Manchester Marathon's 27th April 2025

The London Marathon was founded in 1981 by athletes Chris Brasher and John Disley. It was inspired by the New York City Marathon and has become one of the worlds six major marathons.

There are three separate starting points. “Red Start” in Greenwich Park, “Red Start” in St John’s Park and the “Blue Start” from Shooters Hill Road.

A small number of runners, known as the "Ever Presents” have completed each of the London Marathons since 1981. When the list was first established in 1995, there were 42. After 2019, their number has shrunk to 10.

The Manchester Marathon will welcome 36,000 marathon challengers. Participants can get set to enjoy this flat friendly course that boats landmarks such as Old Trafford, there will be route activations and music with the amazing energy from 125,000 spectators who will cheer the runners on to the finish line.
