National Tell a Fairy Tale Day

February 26th is a day dedicated to fairy tales. This day encourages to re-visit some of the great fairy tales of our time, such as “The Ugly Duckling”, “Beauty and the Beast” and “Cinderella”.

These tales are often about good triumphing over evil, right over wrong with other moral lessons.

This day is a time to introduce young children into the joys of fairy stories and of reading. It is a time to spark their imagination and enjoy the art of storytelling. You could also try your hand at writing your own fairy story.

To celebrate Tell a Fairy Tale Day read your favourite fairy tale aloud to children, family or friends. Revisit the fairy tale classics by reading the books or watching the films. Share your favourite fairy tale quotes on social media. Introduce fairy tales from other cultures such as African folktales.

Create fairy tale activities such as a craft day or story telling exercise. Go to your local library to look for new stories. Think about how fairy stories have affected your life.
