Pride Month

Pride Month

June is the month to celebrate the LGBTQ community. But what do these letters stand for.

L is for Lesbian, women or non-men who are romantically or sexually attracted to other women. G is for Gay typically referring to men attracted to men, but can also be an umbrella term for anyone attracted to the same gender. B is for Bisexual individuals attracted to more than one gender. T is for Transgender people whose gender identity differs from the sex assigned at birth. Q is for Queer/Questioning. Queer is an inclusive term for sexual and gender minorities while questioning refers to individuals exploring their sexual orientation or gender identity. I is for intersex people born with physical sex characteristics that do not fit typical definitions of male or female. A is for Asexual/Aromantic/Agender/Ally. Asexual individuals who experience little or no sexual attraction. Aromantic are those who experience little or no romantic attraction. Agender those people who do not identify with any gender. Ally is a supporter of LGBTQIA rights and who advocate for equality.

This month is an opportunity to come together and celebrate the vibrant diversity of the LGBTQ+ community.
